Sweet Heat Chicken Legs
Chosen Cooking Method: Traeger Smoker (see below for alternative cooking methods)
Prep Time: 30 minutes - 8 hours (optional overnight marination)
Cook Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Servings: 6
Ingredients:
- 12 uncooked chicken drumsticks
- Approx. 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- Approx. 3 tablespoons Lazy Lightning seasoning by AlcheMeats
- 1 gallon-size bag
Directions:
- Dry off the drumsticks with a paper towel.
- In the gallon-size bag, combine half of the white olive oil and 1 tablespoon of Lazy Lightning seasoning by AlcheMeats.
- Place all drumsticks into bag.
- Pour remaining white olive oil and 1 additional tablespoon of Lazy Lightning seasoning by AlcheMeats into gallon bag.
- Seal the bag and massage the drumsticks together until the chicken is fully covered with the marinade.
- Marinate in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (longer is better; overnight is best).
- Remove from refrigerator and re-season both sides of the drumsticks with Lazy Lightning seasoning by AlcheMeats (discard leftover marinade).
- Place drumsticks on the grill of cold smoker (do not pre-heat smoker).
- Close lid and turn on to 400 degrees.
- Cook for approximately 1 hour, or internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
- Remove from smoker, serve and enjoy!
Pro Tip: You do not need to flip over food when using a smoker. However, you can flip halfway through for better presentation of grill marks on both sides of your meat.
Alternative Cooking Methods:
Oven
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Place drumsticks on cookie sheet, approx. one inch apart.
- Cook for 40 minutes, flipping the drumsticks halfway through.
Air Fryer
- When ready to cook, place drumsticks in air fryer.
- Cook at 400 degrees for 18 minutes, flipping the drumsticks halfway through.
Pro Tip: Drumsticks should not touch each other or the sides of the air fryer. May need to do multiple batches depending on the air fryer size.
